Am I the only one who still can't get the 4.5 Funkey Trunk update?

The UB Funkey server is working. We have a connection. {Master Lox struck again soon after I wrote this, and we no longer have a connection this entire day} It's the first time in a week that Master Lox hasn't infiltrated the network. That was about the time the latest update (4.5 Funkey Trunk ) became available. We never got the option to download the update.

So, here we are now with a connection to the server, and we should get the message to download the update. It never came.

I have Windows Vista, so I tried to right click on the Funkey icon on my desktop and selected "run as administrator"

Still nothing but the funkey spinning & falling into Funkeystown....."loading Funkeystown"....that's all, no "checking for anything new in Funkeystown"

I changed the date setting on my computer's clock to show tomorrow's date. Sometimes you only get the option to download once a day, maybe was on after midnight last night when I was checking if the server was back up. No luck.

I checked our Radica files for the update.exe file.....No, not there. So it didn't start and not finish. No sign of "Trunk" anywhere. (A previous blog post explains this)

So I called the Radica/Mattel Customer Relations helpline. 2 minute hold. Wow, that's the first time in a year of calling that there has been a wait! Either the game is more popular now, or there are more problems!

The Rep. told me to do everything I already did, but also to temporarily turn off the firewall.
I just received an email from them and a case was opened (I was very impressed that I got an email about it with a case #, that had not happened in the past.) There was one more suggestion in the case description, which was to unplug the hub, & plug it again, while in my crib. I went back to try that, but now Master Lox is striking again.

I was told I was the only one who called about this problem of not getting the update after having an internet connection to the server.
(I'm thinking at this point that they've only been opened an hour & it's the first day of the server being up again. I take that to mean that as long as they don't get more calls about it then they won't try to find a solution and it's tough luck for me!)

So, other than putting a new Funkey into the hub to force the update, there is nothing else to do to get the update. We don't have any new Funkeys, but they also said there are no new ones to force this update.

Okay, now. I ask all of you - Am I really the only one?

  2. I downloaded the update on the 19th of december and had no problems. Then on the 20th, the master lox message came up. I think the server is being overloaded and has gone Hay-Wire!

  3. Robyn I'm with you. I uninstalled and reinstalled again and it came up. I just couldn't use the unique funkey name because now I didn't have any updates. So to fix this I tryed to download the update and....it shut down never to work again. YOU ARE NOT ALONE, I ALSO NEED HELP!

  6. I have everything and even went to paypal to buy Loot. Paypal confirms the transaction but there is no loot showing up in my trunk to buy stuff with. According to the FAQ's the loot appears as soon as the transaction is complete. But not showing up yet.

    We are going to by the Dot Familiar since I certainly can't fork out over $150.00 for Dot. I figured this was their clever work around for not actually making Dot available to those kids who are actually playing the game. However, reading more about Dot I find that while you can go to the Dot Spot, you can not earn coins and you can not win the game to access from your crib. Probably can't win the trophy either. This is also disappointing.

    My son just doesn't understand why a company would make a toy for kids but then make one part of the game basiclly unavailable to them.

    Anyone else tried to buy Loot yet?

  7. I have the 4.0 update, but I keep trying every day to get the 4.5 update, and I keep calling Radica, and they try to help, but nothing works. What can we people do that have tried everything do. I want the 4.5 update with Angus, I want to meet him in Funkeystown. Does anyone have any more suggestions? I won't give up Funkeys. Has anyone seen any Hidden Realm figures yet? Please reply with help and Hidden Realm figures.

    I had the same problem - if it shows 1st page go to my post on page 7 & read down - I paid $50 through paypal last night so called Mattel today

  9. We got the update on 12/19 but we are still getting errors now when we try to play. I also cannot access the UBF website, which is annoying because we need to load the software on our other computer and it would be faster to download the patch than transfer it.

    Helengirl19 - I've only heard of a few people that have the Hidden Realm Funkeys & they ordered them through Amazon.com back in Oct or Nov. I ordered mine last week and it will be a while. I haven't heard of them in stores yet.

  12. Yesterday I called Radica twice and talked on the phone with them for a total of two and a half hours. With that time I did EVERY THING possible and nothing. They sent me an email; didn't help at all. The 2nd time I called and tryed everything else that I didn't do before. When we tryed the very last thing (not to get the update but to actually play the game and use my unique funkey name) the lady told me: If this doesn't work you will have to give up on UB Funkeys all together or if I get lucky and wait it will work. The last idea didn't work so guess what I'm doing.

    I'll NEVER give up on my little funkey friends!(Plus I just got plenty for Christmas)

  13. I was able to get the 4.5 update but it is not loading properly. It says this will take 84 minutes then 8 minutes later it says it is done and to click OK and the UB funkys will automatically start with the new version. This was 20 minutes ago....I am still waiting. My six year old is not impressed.

  18. Chris, did the Mattel Rep really tell you you'd have to give up on Funkeys? Did they at least offer your money back?
    Way back in Feb., when I had problems after Funkiki Island just came out and we lost all our progress, I was very angry with them and they offered my money back. But obviously I've stuck with it up until now.

  20. Sammy - It well could be Vista, but it hasn't stopped all the previous updates from going through. But you might be on to something there.

    So here's a question to Chris & Helengirl19 - are you running Vista as well?

    We've had a connection to the network all day (server appears to be up, or we just got lucky), so hopefully you too, Sammy, can invite people to your crib now.

  22. I dont have Vista and it still doesn't work. I never got the 4.0 update, so maybe thats why it's not working for me. it's been over a week, but I'm not giving up.

  24. I have vista, yes they told me that I might have to give up, and no they didn't offer money back. I wouldn't expect the lady I talked to to offer money back though. When I called the second time yesterday the lady was mean. When one thing didn't work or I messed up something she told me to do she said "Oh s***" under her breath. She also put me on hold twice when I began a sentence, had an aggresive voice and said I was clueless and asked to put my dad on the phone to try a few ideas. She was MEAN!

  29. On topic - My brother and his kids got their first funkeys for Christmas and called me over the weekend asking for help regarding the updates. He was updated thru 4.5 on his laptop but couldn't get it on his desktop. I say that just to add a tally mark in the "been there" column and one in the "done that" column.

    Almost on topic - I pre-orered the HR set from Amazon in November and it should be arriving tomorrow!

    Off topic - Does anyone know the story about the huge penguin/Yeti hybrid laughing at me in the clouds of Daydream Oasis? My son, nephews, and I tried to figure him out for a few hours on Sunday and came up with nothing. He just laughs at me.

  31. Hi Newnik! I'm envious of the HR coming, ours hasn't even been shipped (boohoo)..I was late on ordering. I was holding out for them to hit the stores, but haven't heard of any stores stocking them yet.

    Did you resolve your brother's problem of getting 4.5 on his desktop?

    As for the big laughing thing, haven't heard anything on that.

  36. hi robyn i have problems with my ub funkeys i try doing the 4.5 update i want just 3.2 but if i uninstall ill lose all my trophies but whenever i do get 4.5 i click lets go and it never restarts

  38. i think windows vista is the problem.
    we've got 2 computers: 1 vista and 1 XP, both with funkeys. on the XP update 4.5 did work and on vista it didn't.
