UB Funkeys at 106th American International Toy Fair® in New York City, 2009

Here are some images of UB Funkey figures that were found on Figures.com from the 106th American International Toy Fair® in New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center that took place on Feb. 15 - 18.
(Special recognition goes to Obsessed Funkey for posting images from the Toy Fair on her blog and sharing it with Funkey Fans & that's how we became aware!)

This is the largest Toy Trade Show in the Western Hemisphere! I was hoping to find that Mattel's UB Funkeys were recognized with one of the rewards, but unfortunately they were not!
But surprising to me was that the Toy of the Year award went to Bakugan Battle Brawlers Battle Pack Series 1 Spheres – Spin Master. (source: toyassociation.org)

Gormiti

Are any other Funkey Fans also into the Gormiti figures? Liam just discovered them, I suppose because the TV commercials for them started running. I was wondering if anyone has these yet? From the little bit of internet research I've done, it appears they were big in Europe over the past year, but started here very recently.

Even though this is off-topic for a UB Funkey blog, I know many of you share the same interests as Liam outside of Funkeys. Such as Bionicles , NeoShifters (he loves the games on the website!), Lego, Nintendo Wii, and DS.

Therefore, I knew you all would most likely be some good people to ask what you know about these Gormiti figures and cards!

Really, People? Over $350 for UB Funkey Dot? No,Really?

I am sitting here in total disbelief. P-Lease, somebody explain this to me!

There have been 3 Dot U.B. Funkeys sold on Ebay in the past week or so. One had 48 bids that drove the final price up to $355. Another had 72 bids, driving the price up to $365.51, the third was sold as a "buy it now" for $360.






Come on now, we all know I love U.B. Funkeys, right? Writing this blog for over a year now, I like to play the games every once in a while, I get excited when it's time to hunt for the newly released Funkeys and there's a thrill to finding them.

BUT, PLEASE.........$350 or more to buy Dot? My jaw hit the floor, and it's still there.

I mean, Come on, even "Obsessed Funkey" thinks that's ridiculous and she's obsessed!

Uh, oh, was it you AkaAbbey that bought one of them? LOL. I think she already has one.

To put this in perspective a bit more, I figured out that $350 could buy you 56 Funkeys from Target at their price of about $5.99 plus tax. Target sells some Funkeys for less, and so does Walmart, but I'm taking the conservative approach to make my point. You can vote in my poll (see sidebar) to let everyone know what you think!

Okay, I know I need to let this go, but just one more thing.......I would like to ask these people who were bidding on the Dots once it got over $200:

~ You do realize it's just a piece of vinyl, right?

~ If you want to play Dot's game, you can buy a "familiar" for A WHOLE lot less (it may not be available right now, but I would think it will come back around soon)

~ Mattel should be releasing Dot to retail stores at some point.

~ You have to pay with REAL MONEY if you win the bids on Ebay. Okay, just checking to be sure you know that. It's not just virtual coins like in the game.

Maybe I am just missing something here. Please, someone explain it to me!

UB Funkeys on clearance in Target stores

I went to Target a couple days ago. They have many UB Funkey products on sale and clearance!

The clearance Funkeys were all with the general clearance toys on a separate aisle, but the sales (mentioned above) were in their regular spot.

note: the sale for these first 2 items has most likely ended. Usual Target sales run from Sun. to Sat., although I have not confirmed that this sale was only for one week.

The Dream State Very Rare Pack is on sale for $17.99 (regular price is something like $24.99

The Funkiki Island Adventure Pack is also on sale for $17.99
















The Speed Race starter kit with Speed Racer & ChimChim is on clearance for $4.48. Which is an excellent price considering you're also getting those 2 funkeys that you can't buy as singles.












And the Speed Racer singles (Cannonball Taylor, Trixie, Snake Oiler, and Racer X) are on clearance for $1.23














We picked up a couple flash drives with (Lotus & Duece shaped) because they were marked all the way down to $3.49. They were originally $14










The Funkey speakers were marked down to somewhere around $5, I don't remember exactly.

Toys R Us also has the Speed Racer and Series 1 singles on clearance. We picked up a blue Duece for only .99 cents!

What is your UB Funkey IQ Score?

I just took a Funkey IQ test just for fun, and I am a bit embarrassed to say that I don't think I did so well! There is a website called Nerdtests.com that I saw this morning for the first time. I couldn't find if it listed the correct answers somewhere, but I can tell you which questions that I was not positive about. I should probably know this, but which Funkey is best at singing? Which is the toughest? (If you know the answer, you can take the test and see how you did) I thought I knew the rest, but my score wasn't so good! It was 50%. But then again, I think it just compares your answers against other people's answers who took it, not necessarily if they were correct answers or not. Anyway, you can check it out through the link below. You can even create your own test!

"Funkeyz" (a.k.a. Zoomix) Family Picture

Rare Raj ~ Our newest Funkey Family Member

We're still eagerly awaiting our Hidden Realm 4-pack from Amazon.com, but meanwhile we found the Hidden Realm Funkeys at Target! So we bought a rare Raj since we'll be getting a normal one in the 4- pack.

Liam loves Funkey Fighters. Most of you already know this, but for those who don't, you need to have one of the Hidden Realm Funkeys (Raj, Bomble, Singe, or Yang) to enter the Oni Dojo and play Funkey Fighters.

This was Liam's third time playing the game because someone had challenged him before we got Raj, and he won access to the game room in his crib, a sparring dummy, and trophy with a score of 13,650. I guess that's pretty good. He said the practice he got playing Batman's game & Teen Titans on Cartoon Network.com helped him to play this game well.

"Obsessed Funkey" had a great find to share with everyone. Walmart has the Hidden Real Starter kit in stock and available for purchase on-line for $15.97 ! Walmart.com

UB Funkey Display Case

I just saw this on Ebay so I thought I'd share it. This is the first time I've heard of an authentic UB Funkey display case. Has anyone seen these in stores?
But it only holds 12, and I know there's not too many of us who could use just one!

Hidden Realm Funkey 4 pack from Amazon.com is in stock again

Amazon.com has been shipping out the Hidden Realm 4 packs for the last couple days. They are back in stock! We expect to get ours today.

As my luck would have it, I just found the singles at Target today! The price on the shelf was marked as $5.99, but they weren't coming up in the store's computer yet, so the store rang them up at $4.94.
