A cool UB Funkey website ~ FunkeyFever.com

I would like to share another UB Funkey website that I stumbled across and I think it's really cool. The website is Funkeyfever.com, and I must say I admire the creativity of the web designer!

The Funkey Fever webmaster's daughter has a nice website as well, it's about hints on the Neopets game. So if you are also into Neopets, check out neohints.com

Speaking of Neopets, I believe Liam has a few he needs to feed because they are either starving or dying. Yikes!

Check out those sites, but don't forget to come back here again!

I'll still be working on adding more of the character bios and high scores. I'll take requests on which ones to work on first. There are some older ones complete and you'll find them on the sidebar. If you don't find what you're looking for, please email or leave a comment and I'll get to work on them!

Have you ever wondered..........

How many login names can you have in the UB Funkey game?

I think we discovered that today. After we reached 8 player names, the "create player" menu option would not open for us. Perhaps it's a glitch today, but I'm guessing that we have reached our maximum number of players.

Has anyone else been able to set up more than 8 players?

What happens when you leave your Funkey out in the open and walk away from the game? With no hoodwinks, and without a complete gem?

I discovered that today also! It was by mistake, but I logged in and then walked away and forgot about it. Usually I will click on my crib right away so my Funkey can hang out there if I know I won't be there to dodge the henchman or to play the game.

Hours later, when I finally returned, this is what I came back to!

So now we can assume that 20 coins is the most you can loose from the Henchman Game if he comes and you don't do anything! It was still disappointing.

UB Funkey Speed Racer Hubs ~ starting to ship from Target & Amazon.com

Good news if you ordered a UB Funkey Speed Racer Hub with 2 Funkeys (speed racer & chim-chim) through Amazon.com that ships from Target. I noticed on my Amazon account that they started shipping the hubs yesterday! {update on 4/20/08: Only 3 of them shipped that one day, but none of the others since, so I don't know what's going on with that. However, someone posted a comment that they saw Speed Racer Funkeys in a Target store today. That's good news since they should be cheaper there than Toys 'r us}

I also wanted to pass on a warning about loading the software that comes with the Speed Racer hub if you already have the UB Funkeys game on your computer. Do not install it again or it will replace the files you already have loaded.

If you have the original or pink hub and have been playing the game, you should have already received the Speed Racer updates. That means you'll have access to Royalton Raceway as soon as you place a new Speed Racer Funkey on your hub (any of the hubs will work).

If you are not sure if you have the updates already, you can click here to read a previous post about what the updates look like.

Thanks goes to "grannyanne" who posted that on the Funkey Fan Forum . That warning might help others from losing their files as well.

Topps Speed Racer Candy Tracks

This is completely off-topic because this has nothing to do with UB Funkeys! But it is related to Speed Racer, and I think we all have a little more interest in Speed Racer in general now that we have been playing the Speed Racer games on UB Funkeys. So I thought I'd share these fun little free games that Liam discovered yesterday after seeing the commercial/trailer for the movie:

Have fun playing!

The UB Funkey Collection of Wench05

Here's a picture sent in by someone in Australia who goes by the username of Wench05 on the Funkey Fan Forum. She is working hard on completing her collection. She has all of the Series 1 Funkeys except Very Rare Wasabi & Fallout.
There are a few missing from this photo as they are on vacation (Rare Fallout, Rare Tiki, and Rare Stitch).
It is harder work for her to get this far in collecting because it's harder to find UB Funkeys in Australia. The Speed Racer Funkeys haven't hit the stores there yet, and I think that's still true of the Funkiki Island Funkeys. I believe all her Funkiki's came from Ebay.
Thanks for sending this in, Liam & I enjoyed looking at it and naming them all.
Is there anyone else out there who is collecting them all? Or already has them all?

UB Funkey Hunting ~ Found Cannonball Taylor!

I am soooo excited! I decided to call around to the Toys 'R Us stores instead of using up gas for my UBFunkey Hunt. The first store I called didn't have any in stock, and no delivery dates in the next week. I then called a second store, and I scored! They have a Cannonball Taylor! The person I talked to was so nice, not only did he look it up the computer, but he went to check the shelves for me and came back with the ones they have! wooohooo! The Cannonball Taylor was the last one they had, so he's holding it for me. So as soon as Liam gets home from school, we're riding out there! It has now become all about the thrill of the hunt instead of the thrill of playing the games.

Later that same day.............

Here's a picture of Cannonball Taylor with "Cannonball Taylor's Player's Lounge" in the background. His game & mart are located on the top of level of the Royalton Industries Building. It's the second room that you see.

Here is a list of the UPC codes so you all can call ahead to the Toys R Us near you. I would think that their guest services dept. would be as accomodating and look in their computer for you as well.

Snake Oiler: 027084605907
Cannonball Taylor: 027084605891
Racer X: 027084605860
Trixie: 02784648836

The store's UPC code is the same for each variation of the character (normal, rare, & very rare)

Happy Funkey Hunting to those of you still hunting!!

Speed Racer UB Funkeys ~ Still Figuring It All Out!

We've been playing the different games for a week now and there are still some mysteries. We have only won a trophy for Chim-Chim's game so far, but the reports are coming in about the high scores to earn tropheys, and insane high scores for all the games. You can read about it on the Funkey Fan Forum (you can click "back" on your browser to come back to this blog).

My biggest question right now is how to get to the Speed Racer Pinball Game. Does anyone know yet? I thought I had the great idea to just pick up the phone and call Mattel - going straight to the source. I knew I was calling technical support, but thought there must be someone they could refer me to that could answer game questions. Well, folks, there isn't! In some ways, it makes the UB Funkey game more intriguing. There might also be an extra element of challenge in that way. We are all challenged to figure it out, and it's fun to be the first to discover things and post them on the forums and blogs. That's what we're left with - each other! So please, post away.....all comments and questions are welcome. Make that *ESSENTIAL*! We can all contribute bits & pieces and then put the puzzle together.

Here is my quick list of observations & questions that I still have:

1. What's up with Speed Racer's pinball game? When you enter Speed Racer's place to play the game, you'll see the title of two games,"Grand Prix and Pinball". But it only takes you to the Grand Prix. (update: as someone wrote in the comment section, it does appear that the pinball game will be for a later release of Speed Racer)

2. There appears to be only 2 of each character - Normal and Very Rare (update on 4/8/08: I finally saw a "rare" in the store. For Racer X, I couldn't tell the difference in appearance, but it was written on the package)

3. I am fairly certain that the item for the Very Rare Funkeys is a race car.

4. Do the Speed Racer and Chim-Chim character Funkeys come as singles, or only as a set with the Speed Racer hub?

5. So far it doesn't look like there are any gems or extra missions to complete or secrets......just tropheys and items for insane high scores and cars that you win.

If anyone has anything to add to the list, or any questions of their own, we'd all be interested in hearing about it! Thanks!

{Please see the comments below for some good information that answers some of my questions}

Our Speed Racer UB Funkey collection is almost complete!

Wasn't it only a few days ago that I said you don't need to buy the Speed Racer Hub? I tried to resist, but we gave in. After no luck again at the Walmarts & Targets this week, I picked up the Speed Racer hub with Speed Racer & Chim-Chim at Toys 'R Us. I'm not sure about this, but right now it appears the only way to get the Speed Racer & Chim-Chim Funkeys is to buy them with the hub. Does anyone know if this is true?

We decided to keep the Very Rare Racer X

and Very Rare Trixie.

We already had Snake Oiler.

Here's a picture of the Speed Racer Funkey that came with the Hub

And Chim-Chim too! He's so cute!
So now we are only missing Cannonball Taylor........The Funkey Hunt continues...............
And please come visit again, I'll be working on more facts and game scores. I also still have some questions that someone out there might have figured out!!

Update on Where to Purchase UB Funkeys Speed Racer

Toys R Us and Amazon.com are the top dogs on selling the Speed Racer UB Funkeys. Well, you can find them on Ebay, but for alot of $$$$
{update on April 19, 2008: Target stores are now carrying the UB Funkey Speed Racers}

I found a great deal through Amazon, which ships through Target. A Speed Racer Funkeys Set of 4 is on sale for $20.69 {update: no longer on sale} These are pre-orders & aren't shipping yet, but that breaks down to $5 per Funkey and that's the best price ever! It sounds like the next best thing if you can't get to a Toys R Us, or if they are sold out. For that matter, ordering through Amazon.com might be better than spending money on gas driving around on a hunt to get the ones you want!

Click on the Amazon.com widget located on the sidebar if you want to check it out >>>>>>>>>>>>>

The hub with Speed Racer & Chim-Chim is also marked down to $20.69 through Target (see sidebar again). If you order it, be sure to choose the one from Target if you want the good price but don't mind waiting for it. The link on my sidebar widget might take you to another vendor with a higher priced hub, but they do have it in stock now.
